I designed this book to capture archival articles and photography of cats reported through the years by The New York Times. For this project, I had access to the Time’s Morgue (archives) to make selections and ultimately recommended a chronological approach to the fascinating topic of cats making headlines starting back in 1854. When I first saw the archival photo prints, the beauty of the manual edits to the images to indicate crops and airbrushing by hand is an art in itself. The book retained those image markings and preserved original typeset articles to reproduce the historical content. To bring a modern editorial approach to the collection, these historical stories are paired with illustrations by Yeji Yun. In collaboration with Ed Nacional at The New York Times Store.
